I accidently posted entries from the wrong blog to this one, but I've taken care of that and have this one back on track.
I'm listening to the anti-Catholic hour on 3955 kHz. This guy is reading from book about how the Catholic Church is going to take over the world, “of the impending danger” to our country. Now he's reading from a 19th century book that accuses the Catholic church of being behind the assasination of Abraham Lincoln.
I leave early in the morning for the Elizabethtown Hamfest. It'll be good to see the group over there again, and I'm looking forward to it. I hope the turnout is good.
I checked in on the KSN CW net, this time using one of my Hi-Mound BK-100 “coffin” bugs. This one was one that was shipped to me that arrived with the plastic keying lever shattered into a dozen pieces. The seller told me “tough luck,” so I gave appropriate feedback and decided the key might be worth hanging onto for parts.
But later, with the help of some Crazy Glue, I was able to put the pieces back together. I've had that key all apart, and giving it quite a bit of use and it (amazingly) has held together. I think its a case that the glue joints are stronger than the bakelite. On these keys, the keying lever is incredibly fragile.
I've given my reassembled coffin bug a hard workout mostly because if it re-kits itself, its no big loss. It was a total loss to begin with. I've tinkered with the settings for a while, and really have the key humming with a minimum of effort and slapping around.
While tuning around 80 CW a little while ago, I heard a VE3 sending a looong CQ. How long? Well, I counted 30 consecutive CQ's before he signed his call! Even at 18 wpm, that's a very long call. I heard no takers and he disappeared from the band.
That's all for now, I've got to be back to my preparations for tomorrow.
