The Magic Band was open this morning, and I made some contacts in Colorado, North Dakota and Minnesota. It was really good to hear some signals booming in via eSkip.
The real question I had was if my old 6-meter J-pole — which has been beaten up by the wind and storms for the past year — was still effective. I got great signal reports and worked everyone I heard. On one contact Dave Greer, N4KZ, had worked the guy right before I did. I couldn't hear Dave on groundwave, but I suspect that's because I was on the side or corner of his yagi.

I'm still running Yaesu FT-757Gx No. 2 here in the shack. I've been listening to it constantly, listening for any problems in the filtering, IF shift, etc.
Other than you have to adjust the IF shift for proper tuning depending on sideband, ol' No. 2 Yaesu works well. I busted a pile up this evening with G5RC who was booming in on 20 meters.
I've made a list of issues to get fixed on it, and I'm probably going to ship this one off later this next week. Overall it receives well and transmits fine. The “fixes” are relatively minor, but worth having fixed.
I would like to run this rig on CW, but there's some screwy things going on with CW mode, so I'll wait and see what's up with that issuee.
The 10-meter band was barely open when I checked it today, so I'll have to check it more closely.
