Due to the Webinar (and my stubborn attitude perhaps?), I was unable to attend the ARES meeting last Saturday where the final Field Day plans were to be made.
Field Day this year for the club is not going to be a “contest,” its going to be an Emcomm exercise. I understand the need for emergency preparedness, but the idea of making FD an exercise sounds deadly dull to me. Yeah, all Field Days are exercises of sorts, I know. But they're still fun.
This year, Field Day is rather loosely planned, and has been described to me as a “do-your-own-thing” type of Field Day. It's certainly going to be different than years past.
I'll be basing my Field Day Tour on the official FD Site Locator map on the HQ web site. I think we can get to half a dozen sites on Saturday, depending on how far out I start the first stop.
That's about it this time. More to come …
