What do you do when tech support is damn little support?

Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019 — I’m back and still trying to figure out what’s going wrong with this website. The site is powered by WordPress; WP uses a MySQL database as its “engine” to drive the thing, and 99 times out of 100, it works flawlessly.

Until now.

When I’m mucking around the website I keep getting database errors. I’ve contacted my hosting company tech support, and they have examined the problem but never offered a real solution. Out of frustration, I made a video showing them the problem, which continues to occur. No response.

At this point I’ve wondered if I shouldn’t just create a new install of WordPress and see if I could get rid of the problem; however I don’t want to lose 15 number of years of posts.

My gold-plated Morse Express iambic

EBAY UPDATE. Beyond Powerpole connectors, my only code key-related purchase was a no-brainer — a gold-plated Morse Express LTA iambic key. The key is beautiful, and I have it dialed in and it really works well.

The key lacks feet, however, so I need to purchase some stick-on feet. Beyond that, its a pretty sweet operator. And though it is small, its heavier than the Vibroplex Code Warrior, and doesn’t feel like a small paddle when you use it. I’m not crazy about the olive wood paddles, but frankly, they work well and look unique, so I have no plans to change them.

After the 2008 death of the gent of founded LTA in Spain, Morse Express sold out of the paddles. I always wanted one of the LTA bugs.

I’m still enjoying my Yaesu FT-847; I still need to buy a 500 Hz CW filter for the rig, I’ve gotten spoiled to the FTDX-3000’s infintely variable filters on CW.
