Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, 12:50 a.m. — I could only shake my head tonight — the auction for that much lusted-after Hallicrafters SX-122 receiver ended this evening. The winning bid?? A cool $500!
I’m still amazed at how well the Yaesu FT-757GX sells on eBay — consistently in the $350 range. It’s been selling there (and higher) for years. I have one that I was given, but the rest were sold a couple of years ago. I watch them from time to time just to see what the old workhorse is bringing these days.
The surprise to me is the price that a clean TS-520S brings on eBay — which can often sell for more than a FT-757GX in like condition! Must be a retro thing going on, perhaps? The TS-820 and 830 also sell well. The TS-850 and 870 are big with the enhanced SSB crowd, and they sell very well. Another big-ticket Kenwood item isn’t a rig but an accessory — the DSP-100. I saw two sell for well over $700 and one for more than $500. Beauty — and value — are in the eyes of the beholder!
