This evening I went to the shack and decided to switch back from the Ten-Tec Omni V and put the Paragon back in line. I was surprised when I turned the rig on to find that the receiver was basically dead on 80 meters. I didn’t check the entire range, but it seemed that the 1st VCO was unlocked.
I didn’t have time to do any troubleshooting, but it seems that there’s a well-known problem with the soldering job on the VCOs causing intermittent unlocking problems.
I put the Omni V back in line and used it tonight. I also monitored my Hallicrafters SR-400. That rig seems to stabilize fairly well, particularly when I switch to the HA-20 external VFO.
I still haven’t transmitted on the rig, but its probably time that I should. I think I’m going to move the Tempo 2020 and matching VFO off the operating desk as well as the Omni V, and move the SR-400 on the main operating position.
The SR-400 gets pretty hot, and I don’t like to leave the HA-20 on top of the transceiver. I would like to use the rig for CW, but its going to take a little time to get it set up.
That’s about all this time … 73 es CUL … .de KY4Z … SK .. SK … (dit dit)
