Its been a while since I posted an update here so I thought I should do so.
For starters, I’m still off the air here at the Zed Man’s QTH. Thanks to eBay, I now have all the tools I need — a fishing rod and reel with line; a sling shot; and 100 feet of brand new 300-ohm twin lead feedline.
I’ve been tied up working in my new garage the past week or so. I’m in hte process of fixing the brakes on my 1995 Suzuki Sidekick 4×4, and I’ve had Mr. Murphy (of Murphy’s Law fame) assisting me along the way. I finally got the new caliper mounted today, but still need to bleed the air out of the system.
My other distraction is my 1956 Plymouth Belvedere. The weather here in the Ohio Valley has been spectacular, and the Plymouth has been getting quite a bit of use.
My initial goal is to get up the antenna that came down that formerly served Studio C. The feedline is still there, but I need to find two new end points for a flat-top style dipole since I cut down the tree I had for my old inverted vee.
WHAT’S WAITING IN STUDIO C? I have my new TS-520S to put on the air, and I also have started installing the 500 Hz CW filter. Looking forward to it, too.
EBAY STUFF. I need to put my TS-520SE — the one that lacks transmit — on eBay to sell, as well as my Ten Tec Omni 5.9. I am considering selling my entire Tempo 2020 station (rig/VFO/speaker). I still have my Yaesu FTDX-3000 that I’m not using, and I have an Icom IC-756PROII, both of which are sitting on the floor under the operating table. Both are superb rigs. And of course, I still have my brand new Yaesu FTDX-101MP station that I’ve never gotten out of the box yet.
I’ve told myself I’m not going to unbox that station until I get Studio C rearranged and get my main station tables upstairs. The problem with that plan is making sure I have a place to put the crap that’s in the way in Studio C right now — its mostly boxes of clothes and crap, not ham gear.
Well, one step at a time. It might help to get rid of some of my surplus gear first, hi hi!
